Sad news comes difficult to put into words but a former member and a very dear friend has passed away last night, Eddie Clarke RIP. For those that knew him they will remember him as a practical joker a very good laugh and a fabulous husband and family man. Kathy and Eddie came to our dinner dance last year and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. He was taken back into hospital for another reason a couple weeks ago  and ended up with a few medical problems which were being sorted but alas he passed away. His wife Kathy asked me to thank everyone for all the time they were with Alba (Eddies Martini Bike was in the Scottish bike show stand a few times) and will keep me informed of any more details. My thoughts are with Kathy and Jinty x

Hi everyone, As expected at this awful time in the country &  world we have taken the most logical action and CANCELLED our Wing Ding. The decision was very easy, although my heart said “maybe, maybe” my head said “common sense takes priority.” Government guild lines of eventually having only 5 people maximum at an outdoor gathering, would make our Wing Ding impossible. 5 folk spread out on a rugby pitch shouting at each other for a weekend, isn’t anyone’s idea of fun. We’re all gutted but it’s for everyone’s safety. Take care and see you at the British Treffen !!! Stay safe. Love to all, Jinty and the Alba gang x

As we all know our Club is an ageing one with many members affected by the guidelines set by government, some maybe isolated for up to 12 weeks from tomorrow, who knows maybe more! So I’m personally asking all the Region’s younger members to look out for our elder ones, a phone call, text message etc to see if anyone is desperate for essential supplies. Let’s not think someone else will have done it because they probably won’t have. This Club’s membership are known for helping each other when comes to the Wings so why not each other while the Wings are resting in the garage. Lets keep up the Goldwing spirit while we wait for the chance to have a beer together ‘in a field somewhere’. Stay safe & love to all.

Message From Sid (Shrewsbury L/Parade)

After talking to different people we came to a sad decision and that we need to cancel this years light parade in Shrewsbury. We were not being stopped by Shrewsbury council members and they informed us of a few facts on how things are in Shrewsbury at present and the town is now very quiet. We are also one of the last Shrewsbury events to announce a cancellation. Any one who may have booked and payed any monies should apply for refunds as many places will return money if applied for at least 14 days before the date of booking take up. I just hope all my friends out there will stay healthy till we all meet again while I and the committee will start planning for next year.

From Border Wings.
After talking to North Tyneside Council and the RNLI and following the latest guidelines from the Government, we have had to cancel the event. A lot of members have booked a caravan with the Whitley Bay Holiday Park ran by Park Dean resorts. Micky Price has been trying to contact them today but they are busy with meetings with the virus. We will update you as soon as we find out what is happening

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING After recent government advice, the GWOCGB National Committee sees no other option but to postpone the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to a unknown date at this time. We will not be cancelling but making every effort to delay the AGM so that Club business can continue without too much disruption. As far as elections are concerned we are discussing how to go forward as per the Constitution. With regard to Light Parades and WingDings we see no alternative but to review each event on it own merits paying particular regard to its time frame and location. At this time, the British Treffen is going ahead but again we have to take Government guidance on the holding of large gatherings. This Committee will be discussing the whole events calendar very shortly and will produce a policy for us to follow no matter how disruptive it may be. We are so sorry for any inconvenience but in the light of the circumstances we are faced with, we are leading with advice given from the Government.
